RTR Technologies has brought to market a revolutionary design for the Switch Point Heater. The heating element itself includes the electric element, a metallic sheath and MGO (Magnesium Oxide) with two unique mechanical characteristics:
• A Spiral Wound rugged heater element highly resistant to vibration and shock.
• A Flat Configuration that can be applied against the rail with a significantly large part of the heater surface in contact with the rail.

The RTR design requires 35 to 50 % less power to melt ice and snow. Because the power is less, the temperature is lower and safer, which reduces thermal stress. This is a significant improvement for energy consumption and safety.
